Collaborating With a Friend

I have always enjoyed connecting with others, whether teaching, running, or printing. Recently, I met a new printer who had just moved to Fredericksburg. Well, he’s not a new printer. He’s quite experienced. But our relationship is new!

Pete Morelewicz designs– everything. He has an eye for details, and I love his work. So when he offered to design a couple of cards for Fredericksburg that we could letterpress print, I jumped at the chance.

You can find these locally at LibertyTown Arts, Heather’s, and Agora Coffee. I love the way they turned out. And what’s better than sending a love note from your favorite city?

It’s All About the Words

Words. I must have become a printer because I love seeing words in front of me. Cards, prints, even these small letterpress printed cards that now stand in wooden holders.

I’m about to start a new eating plan, something I’ve done, oh, maybe a thousand times during my life! But seriously, who knows, right? So I’m working on becoming a vegetarian/vegan (haven’t decided which one yet). I’m going to need lots of help, so today I’m working on some signs I can put around the kitchen to inspire and motivate me:

“The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.” -Ann Wigmore

“Came from a plant, eat it; was made in a plant, don’t.” -Michael Pollan

Let’s see how this goes….

It’s the Way You….

This was one of the first cards I printed. I only made a handful, and I forgot about them.

But the other day, I realized I LOVE these cards. So, I”m going to set the type again and reprint. Sometimes a good idea needs to be reprised, right? It’s the way you hold my hand when I’m cold, wash the dishes every night, walk the dog in the morning so I don’t have to go out in the cold… and on and on. It’s Valentine’s Day:)

Off to the Visual Arts Center

My friend, Caroline, is coming back to town. We were certified on the press at the Vis Arts Ctr in Richmond last month, so we want to give it a try- together! We’ll spend the day setting type and printing. I’m working on this print, but it will not look the same once I pick out type and ornaments.

I wanted to give myself something to visualize before I started.

The words, though, will hang on my wall to give me a reminder of how I want to be.
